Boromir headcanons

-I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll restate it here; he is surprisingly socially awkward

-He’s a confident guy don’t get that wrong, especially when discussing strategy, diplomatics, etc

-But casual small talk makes him squirm a bit

-He gives the best hugs and you can’t change my mind

-He runs hot so he is like a heater; cats love him for this reason

-But he is also allergic to said cats but he won’t move them if they sit on him

-I can’t remember who but I saw someone else say that he is dyslexic and I’m fully in board with that

-He is great with kids but horrible with babies

-He talks about his brother constantly; he just loves him so much and is so proud of him

Hi hi! I'm sure you have loads of asks to get through. But if you may, we talk a lot about Chilchuck and Marcille (as we should 'cause they're great!), but since you've mentioned that Laios is your fave char, I would love to hear if you have any takes on Laios and Izutsumi's dynamic. I feel sometimes like she doesn't really like him...? It's funny but I also feel bad for him sometimes. ^^;;

You can’t ask me this and expect me to not drop everything else I’m doing. Little did you know they are my brotp. They are so special. Izutsumi gets along more with literally everyone in the party, but their relationship was so narratively important. They’re a really underrated and overlooked dynamic! I’ve had them as a topic at the back of my mind for a while, seeing someone else interested was all the push I needed gdbdg. This isn’t super long though, their issues with each other and lil arc is surprisingly brief and easy to summarize.

Laios & Izutsumi : what’s their deal with each other

For me one foundational train of thought for Izutsumi & Laios is, well. I read this awesome smart post deconstructing how Izutsumi’s beef with Laios is because she only just broke free and wants freedom without having someone ordering her around, and that’s sort of her whole character arc, isn’t it?

Isn’t Izutsumi’s picky eating a reflection of just that? In a life where she was a slave, she could at least control what she chose to eat and not eat. But then you might wonder, why did the narrative want her to grow out of that? Simply put, Izutsumi has a contrarian streak, one that is often extremely counterproductive. We saw that especially near the beginning, with how hard it was to make her work with them as a team. The issue is that now that she is free, she needs to not block out others by habit, to not lash out and refuse the healthy things in life, the people who want good for her. And that’s something that’s addressed in the succubus chapter as well as the fight against the ice golem, that she shouldn’t insist that she can do everything alone and fight against any team effort.

I love how onesided the Laios izutsumi dynamic is. He stays away from her generally, like doesn’t interact much, but he wants the cat pats… Which Izu made clear she did NOT want. And Chil is the only one in the party to not really see her as a cat for most of the story really, as shown in the relationship chart. He’s well meaning and wants the best for her, but he crowds her and doesn’t understand her at all. But he reallyyy wants to get along with her.

On the other hand, Izutsumi’s very existence and identity gave Laios an immense amount of hope that Falin could be brought back and still be herself and live well, even if she still had part of a dragon’s soul in her. I think that’s a lovely way to contrast the way that Izutsumi hates herself as a beastkin and her body, while Laios is like "Thank you, your existence as you are is the answer to all my worries" AND he super likes monster bodies and beastkins so it’s like. I think part of her hostility to him, besides feeling like he doesn’t understand her perspective and is maybe dismissive of what his party members want (which would remind her of Maizuru to some degree probably), is that he says all these good things about her being a beastkin, and it’s so jarring with her own version of herself that it raises her hackles and she reacts negatively, especially with how flippant and eager he is about it. But yes like, this is their first meeting!! Beyond his interest in her as a beastkin because of his monster hobby, Laios is just so very grateful for her and chooses to put his trust in her.

That’s interesting too, how one of the first things she asks about upon meeting them is why the hell they would want to rescue Falin even if she were to stay as a chimera-beastkin and still have the dragon soul in her. It’s her asking "Who would want to stick with a beastkin?" thinking that there’s something fundamentally wrong with having two souls and it making you unlovable. And their differing views on monsters do make them clash

But ultimately he chills out about her, which ironically enough shows in the way that they don’t interact much- He gives her space, and accepts that the beastkin may not like him. BUT at the end of the day they have an incredible bond of trust- Laios asks Izutsumi to kill him if something goes wrong with the Winged Lion. Not only is that sort of an intimate request and act, but that means that he leaves it up to Izutsumi’s judgement as well to know if it went wrong and when to act. He doesn’t only trust her skills but also her decision making, despite how tough they’ve been on each other in the past. He’s giving her the ultimate role, the go ahead to make or break their plan and be the difference between saving or destroying the world. And the last tidbit of info we get on their relationship in canon is when she hides behind him because she’s shy- Certified having befriended the cat moment. She trusts him and sees him as a safe person! And by saying that she’s shy, he’s showing that he did end up understanding her and how she is.

No matter the rocky parts of their relationship, they still have a strong foundation to it and were great allies and road companions, one of the few persons that had each other’s back when it mattered the most, both for the world and for their personal arcs. And post-canon, well…

He’s accepted that she needs space and whatnot, and meanwhile she’s accepted his interest in monsters and taken it in stride 😌 They end up having this familiarity with each other and even if there’s still a bunch of emotional distance imo and they never really got into the nitty gritty with each other not like her with Chilchuck or even Marcille, they see each other. They nod in greeting and respect each other from afar……. But also still tease and chat familiarly up close and if she offers him the opportunity for cuddles he will take it. You know, if it’s not her just falling onto him because she’s sleeping she has no respect.

Siblings behavior… If you know my take on the general party dynamics, I love thinking of Laios & Izu’s dynamic as him being an older brother figure where they have a love-hate relationship. Siblings rivalry. I have a bunch of funny little doodles I’ve wanted to make with them for months, the prompts for which are in the screenshot put below. But yeah like you know, they’re protective of each other but in that very critical way as well, truly forged by being stuck with each other for a while and having to come to understand and accept how the other is. Strife with conflict, but ultimately sticking with each other through thick and thin… Siblings siblings SIBLINGS SIBLINGS SIBLINGS. Sigh I just want them to cuddle on a couch and she purrs while simultaneously being snide and mean to him, they are so… Izutsumi is the character ever

Oh, which! While I’m here, I always recommend this fanfic about the two of them interacting and Laios treating her like a cat, it’s just fun and lighthearted. They’re suuuuch an underrated duo

If I find more Laios & Izu moments I think are worth sharing I’ll just add it onto this I think. We shouldn’t be too hard on him he was raised by dogs so cats are a whole other language to him but also, so wild to me that he never tried to engage with her on a cat level properly like where is the hissing at the catgirl and the cat taming moments, he sucks at socializing with cats smh smh.

I want to do an analysis of queerness in Dungeon Meshi with relationships and social norms and stuff and Izutsumi’s arc is gonna be central to that too. i thought about this request for quite a long time because for the most part they themselves are kind of green flag hahaha. like in my perception they are all respectful of women in general (at least it looks like it from the outside) and they are emotionally available, which can be understood from their words that they hardly fights with each other and solve problems through dialogues. in my opinion, these are already one of the biggest green flags in men, so in the post i just wrote some good points (?) that came to my mind when thinking about each of the members

red flag: maybe this is super subjective, but that's the only thing that came to my mind. there may be some things that you will have to tell him about. sometimes he is really very simple and naive like a child and there are things that he may not think about that could be offensive or wrong. for example, when they discussed something related to jealousy, he several times answered something like “I would do it, but if my partner tells me not to do it, then I won’t” and the like was about going somewhere and so on, and It's absolutely normal to tell your partner what you like and what you don't like, but there are things that you would like someone to take care of without you reminding like some passive in relationship. red flag: resentment. actually beomgyu loves to tease members, but sometimes when someone starts teasing him he gets offended (for example, the last time when yeonjun jokingly asked “oh like that? i didn’t know” and beomgyu really began to explain to him why this was so and only after a few seconds he realized that it was a joke and I sat there with that face🥺) and we also know how jealous he is so i think sometimes he might get offended by pretty minor things

green flag: firstly i'll leave this video. secondly he's very soft with his loved ones, very gentle, very vulnerable. he likes to be alone sometimes but actually is very clingy and is open in expressing his feelings. he is a person who has the most developed all love languages ​​and he could express his love very efficiently

I'm not a "ship" person whatsoever but I do scroll character tags on occasion and see quite a bit of Vox and Vel together as well as what seems to be a lot of what I'm assuming is female original character stuff. I've even seen some Charlie and Vox too. So it's out there, but unless you're scrolling through character tags I can see how it might be hard to find. Personally, I also block/filter a lot of the big "ship" tags so maybe that also makes it easier for me to stumble across this stuff that "slips" through since I don't know if those pairings have names.

I get your point though. I do think many are inclined to erase his bisexuality when it's convenient. Interestingly, they also erase Valentino's pansexuality too. The same with Husk as well, but I check his tag a lot less so who knows.

What disappoints me, and I know I'm about to come off as nit-picky right now lol, is the lack of research people put into their "sexuality" headcanons for the characters with reference to their different eras. When reading some of them, you'd think the idea of "gay rights" was a completely new and foreign topic that only emerged after the early 2000s. I get people want to go for the simplistic "repressed and doesn't know what being [insert identity here] is" for some of the older characters but that completely ignores a fascinating and rich tapestry of queer history that could create far more interesting (and still accurate) stories for the characters/their backgrounds. I would really encourage those who haven't already or are generally unfamiliar to dive into this history as it might inspire their character ideas while also educate them on the work, art, and activism our queer elders have contributed to the community we have today.

I think this may partially relate to character ages being under explored as well. While I've seen debate on what is canon/has been decanonized many of these characters, as far as we know, died in their late 30s and beyond. That's a lot of life to live and experience. While certainly many people throughout history (and even today) kept their sexuality hidden from the public due to culture, shame, and safety that doesn't mean there weren't many incredible private venues/spaces that could be utilized to explore those feelings/identities in secret.

I could go on and on about this but I've totally strayed from your original point (I'm sorry!) and I'm very tired haha. I just think there are multiple factors coming into play here with these character interpretations and, for me, the biggest missed opportunity is the lack of historical research. But end of the day people should have their fun! Just an observation.

Completely agree with this! I doubt my response will be as long since I just woke up but other characters doing certain things or not knowing about sexualities is interesting, it just seems like a lot of people think older people don’t want to explore any of that like it only just happened recently as you said. I like to joke about Angel being shocked about gay marriage and not knowing a bunch of current terms but thats about it. With him being in the mafia when he was alive makes it much more interesting as well, I’m pretty sure around his time the mafia was blackmailing men in gay bars but dont quote me on that I might be wrong.

Anyway for Husk and Valentino pan erasure I see that a bunch too. Not exactly erasure but just… ignoring it? Moreso erasure on Valentino’s end because Ive seen people get mad at people for shipping Valentino with a woman and was like “hes gay dont do that” no he isnt. Also dont ship Valentino with anyone for the love of god. But like people are super used to just making up headcanons that they dont bother to look up actual canon stuff. I know Hazbin isn’t the best but if you want canonically LGBTQ+ characters use what you have and add on later. Or headcanon a background character, thats what I did with Molly.

Why the signs won’t date you

Aries - won’t date you because they have other options, and want to feel them all out first before picking one. What’s the fun in picking out a flavor before you’ve had a few others to compare it to? Or maybe you just bore them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just a few random thoughts. Personally I think Jungkook is sincere and isn’t playing a role right now. I think he tends to be a bit impulsive and obsessive when he has something in his mind. Nowadays, he wants to make sure we don’t see him as a teenager and the forever maknae. I never took him for a baby, I’m well aware he’s 26 now and he’s a grown ass man, hell I’m older than him 😅 So I don’t exactly get why he’s so hell-bent on that. For a while now the fandom has been mostly thirsting over him and noticing how much he has grown up. I think Jimin is being babied a lot in comparison. Or maybe that’s just in my circles? But I respect what he feels and the direction he wants to take. I don’t like it, because for this chapter 2 I was looking for something a bit more personal from each member, a way to connect to each one of them. And so far it has been the case, except for him. Which makes me a bit sad as he is one of my bias, along with Jimin and Hobi. Hopefully one day he’ll get back to writing his own songs because it’s when I connect to him the most, but it’s not his goal at the moment and I respect that.

That being said I truly hope we’ll get at least one ballad from him on his album, and no more featuring… it’s the 3rd one now, 4th if we add Dreamers but that was a special song, and like many of your previous anons I’m losing interest. My excitement for his album has worn off. With Left and Right then Seven and now 3D it’s getting a bit too much, all over the place and lacking some sort of uniqueness. I want to hear Jeon Jungkook, not another western perfectly-pre-packaged production that could have been given to any other pop artist. I’m not really seeing a multiple-dimension Jungkook right now, which is fine but just not suited for I expect from the artists I follow. No one not even the kpoppies can dismiss that fact. Yet, these songs don’t showcase that??? They are songs that anyone could sing. Sure, JK has some great ad libs here and there. There is arguably nothing wrong with the way that he sounds but it’s also not remarkable or impressive vocally in my opinion.

I also don’t consume music. I too am older anon. I’m 30 almost 31 and I listen to what I like. One of the things I like and admire a lot is excellent, lush songwriting. You want a stunning hetero sexual song about sex with women? Work Song by Hozier or really any song by Hozier. I also admire the lyrics of Frank Ocean in the R&B scene, Kendrick Lamar in the Rap genre, and indie girls like Phoebe Bridgers and Lana Del Rey. All of these are just to name a few. Western music can be high quality and have amazing lyrics. I get that JK is going for mass general population appeal, so that’s why this doesn’t resonanate with me. I can be pretty snobby too. In fact, a lot of the music I love is what Joon shares to his stories and as we know, he’s one of the lyrical masterminds behind BTS.

I also love Jungkook and I’ll continue to love him even if I’m not going to listen to 3D and Seven on repeat. I will of course listen to his solo album too when it comes out. I fear it will be more of the same which isn’t my taste, but that’s okay. And it’s okay to like it. I’m one of those people that really likes to dive into songs lyrically. Some people don’t care about lyrics. The lyrics more than anything are what drew me to BTS in the first place. JK wants to be a different kind of solo pop star. That’s fine, I’ll just wait until he’s back in the studio with his band mates producing songs that I know will be fire and I won’t care what the general public thinks about those.

assigning candy to asgzc + plus what i think their faves would be

angeal: i want to say kitkat, i cant quite explain why but its the first candy that came to mind… maybe i’m subconsciously thinking about the kitkat slogan, which makes me think of him because damn… poor guy really needs a break… + i’m somewhere between headcanoning him as someone who unexpectedly absolutely loves candy or someone thats not actually all too fond of candy/sweets in general, but he absolutely feels like a granny candy kind of guy! like he always had THOSE strawberry hard candies on him at all times, which makes me think his favorite would be some kind of hard candy, or some kind of cheap chocolate like a hersheys bar or something, that he doesn’t like for the flavor, but because it was the primary candy he got as a kid whenever he could afford it

sephiroth: hes literally a sour patch kid… he looks so intimidating and mean but (pre insanity at least) he’s actually just an awkward sweetheart! post insanity though is like toxic waste or something (like the sour candy, thats an actual candy i swear) because it just hurts a lot and to most people is not enjoyable at all + i dont think he eats much candy, nor did he eat much of it growing up, i think he mostly only ate what he was given by others, like hard candies, because people are more likely to carry those around as opposed to like a chocolate bar or something, and i feel like it’s probably stuck with him, so by process of elimination, they would be his favorite but he isnt really opposed to any candy, he just doesn’t really eat it in general and he probably prefers other sweets, like baked things

genesis: hes fireball/any of those cinnamon “spicy” candies… they’re red… and genesis seems to really like committing acts of arson with fira materia… and they fit perfectly dont ask its hard to explain! also skittles, which i feel is self explanatory… + he likes lollipops, not because he truly loves them, but because he loves purposefully sucking on them in a provocative manner when angeal and sephiroth are around to get any kind of reaction out of them! his actual favorite would probably be like… turtles or ferrero rochers or something of that really expensive, fancy chocolate nature (do not correct me on the fancy or unfancyness of those chocolates! i’m poor, they’re fancy to me!)

zack: … pixie sticks… all the way… just a fucking tube full of sugar… + he doesn’t have a favorite because he likes literally all of it, put any candy in front of him and it will be gone in a second and he will love whatever it was that you put in front of him! the only exception is that he hates chocolate, and i think i have that in my head because of the whole puppy zack thing, but regardless he loves all other kinds of candy, and he absolutely bounces off the walls for the rest of the day, after eating every candy he can get his hands on

cloud: he feels like gummy bears, especially the mini ones… cute, small and squishy… and pretty basic like they aren’t like remarkable, just kinda there but generally liked and appreciated without any strong haters, and i don’t think i can think of a single person, in canon, that ever actually hated cloud (dont quote me on that, i could be wrong) + his favorite would probably be some kind of obscure small town local candy, which only like a few people have ever had or heard of, and he thinks no other candy can match or live up to it… otherwise, he probably likes most chocolate/candy bars in general, and hes not really picky about it, but hes also not primarily fond of most other candies that aren’t chocolate

*sigh* I just want to rant. I am SO sick and tired of people making fun of my food sensory issues! A few information before I start, I was raised a vegetarian, like my parents went on a vegetarian diet before I was born so I literally never had meat in my life, therefore, my body isn't quite used to it. (oh btw, someone secretly fed me meat under the pretext that it's vegan meat at a party once to "prove me wrong" after i "would've felt fine eating it", i ended up vomiting my guts out before they told me about their prank) I am also autistic, and have sensory issues when it comes to smells especially, for example, if i can't smell completely odor less air sometimes if i want to....it can get rough to say the least. I am also a picky food eater in general, combine all of these things and I can get sick if I smell meat based products, especially cooked. (i also really really wouldn't like it if i was told to "just take it off, you won't even taste it" in general) I'm not an entitled jackass, I don't tell people to not eat meat in front of me or get the meat away from me or if you have meat at this event I won't come. I simply sometimes want to remove myself from these environments for a little because of too many smells, when it gets too much for me But I always get mocked and fun of as the "pretentious entitled vegan who's too good for us meat eaters and is obviously superior", when I'm really not, please leave me alone, i've literally never told you to do anything for me nor have I insulted you in any way. Or who knows? Maybe I really am an asshole

I’m also a very picky eater. I order the same thing at restaurants. Eat the same processed foods, which I know isn’t healthy, but the texture of most fruits/vegetables bother me and feel so weird in my mouth.

Adding onto that one ask someone made abt narilamb being toxic I also wanna add that even if Nari spared Lamb it would be heavily toxic perhaps even more toxic than baseline Narilamb

I have an au where Nari spares my Lamb and ends up making them his disciple. He gains a creepy obsession towards her and forces them to marry him. The relationship is rife with abuse grooming/manipulation ( lamb isn’t a minor btw ) and dubcon at best and straight up noncon at worst.

The bishops are in eternal purgatory with no way to get out anytime soon ( might have my lamb try to release them out of spite? Granted their morals are probably fucked so I don’t think they’d be of any help to the lamb but I think Nari could get his ass kicked for basically orchestrating their deaths )

I haven’t rlly done too much with the au bc writing dark themes to this extent isn’t exactly something I do much but it’s still smth I think abt

I just don’t really understand how a character could, in good conscience, look at someone who has upturned their life and tried to betray them and feel anything but wary?

A good writer could explain that and I’ve seen some good attempts at making it all make sense but it’s a big undertaking if you wanna make their relationship work out. My gripe with a lot of narilamb content (and i will not be naming any names bc I’m not that big of a cunt) is that it tries to cut these corners entirely.

The interesting ones (to me, anyway) make the Lamb into a kind of antihero- someone more than ready to put up with Narinder’s brand of evil and put him in his place, which is exciting as it changes their previous dynamic and demonstrates how powerful the Lamb has become. They become almost like equals in this way, but in an interesting, dangerous capacity where each one’s power is constantly under the threat. There’s a reason people like dark romance or “enemies to lovers” or even just romantic banter- it’s fun to watch people try to negotiate the upper hand and see how the advantage moves between parties.

I’m very picky about this exchange of power between characters so, granted, I don’t usually like “enemies to lovers”. Pride and Prejudice is probably my biggest exception bc Darcy and Lizzie always feel like equals even if, socioeconomically, they’re not. But if Lamb could put Narinder (deservedly) in his place in a similar way, it would bring that much needed tension and drama into their relationship. If they can just get along after alllll of that shit then it’s hard for me to be interested since there’s no tension anymore. I think this is where a lot of romance writing in general fails because keeping this balance between too much tension/not enough tension is hard.

(But I mean at least try y’know? God)

Your alternate universe sounds interesting, even if it’s grim. I can’t give you much advice on that front since I don’t know where you wanna take it but if the dark themes intimidate you then there’s nothing wrong with writing those elements as merely implied or “off-screen”. There’s also allegorical ways to add conflicts relating to sexuality and consent (maybe there are non-physical or even magical ways that characters can cross or push boundaries?) and that would allow you to involve these conflicts while protecting you from having to write graphic scenes. I’m only an amateur writer and an English BA- and you may not even be asking for advice here- but I definitely relate to you saying that you like to think about writing dark themes while being uncertain about doing it.

Well That Happened Chapter 19

Damian had just crossed the threshold of the bakery with Luka when his phone started to ring in his pocket.

“Ah, that’s probably your dad.” Luka told him, removing his arm from around Damian (Damian had entirely forgotten it was there-) and giving him some space to take the call.

A glance at caller ID proved Luka to be right, his father’s contact proudly on display.

Damian glanced suspiciously at Luka, slowly answering the call as Luka grinned at him.

“Hello?”

“Damian! Where are you?” Bruce asked quickly.

Damian could hear his siblings in the background. It would seem everyone else had already found each other.

“The Dupain-Cheng Bakery.” Luka mock whispered to him when Damian looked to him for an answer.

Damian was slightly surprised by himself, there was no reason for him to have followed Luka so blindly. It was concerning.

“I’m at the Dupain-Cheng Bakery, why?” Damian replied, watching as Luka walked away to greet the woman behind the counter.

“We are on our way.” Bruce said, hanging up the phone immediately after.

Damian blinked, shaking his head before putting his phone away.

He felt strange.

Mildly delirious maybe? He felt distant and present all at once. It was a strange feeling.

“Damian!” Luka called out snagging his attention.

Damian looked up, spotting Luka waving at him from a set of stairs.

“Come on, Marinette’s up here.” He said, waiting for Damian to join him before he continued up the stairs.

They ascended the stairs together, Damian blindly following Luka as he tried to decipher his inner turmoil.

Luka knocked on the ceiling, pulling Damian from his musings as he did so.

Damian looked at him, wondering when they had begun ascending a second set of stairs. He was also surprised to find Luka’s hand on his back.

He hadn’t noticed him put it there.

The ceiling opened up to reveal Marinette standing above them. She smiled when she saw them, opening the trapdoor up the rest of the way and letting them both in.

“You okay, Damian?” Marinette asked, walking further into her room and sitting on her chaise.

Damian pursed his lips, letting Luka guide him as he tried to find an accurate answer.

“I’m… not sure.” He decided on.

Marinette tilted her head, moving closer to him and gently reaching out to touch his arm.

She seemed to be looking for something in his reaction and whatever it was, she seemed to find it.

“I think I know what’s wrong. You feel kind of floaty, right?” She asked, tugging him towards a set of stairs in her room.

Damian nodded, letting her pull him along.

She had him take off his shoes before ascending the stairs.

Luka did the same, climbing the stairs before them and collapsing on the bed.

Marinette ushered Damian up in front up her, telling him to lay down and laying down beside him.

“No one has a name for it yet, but its basically Paris’s special version of shellshock.” Marinette told him, her head resting against his shoulder.

“The Cure takes the anxiety, panic, and general distress from it but our bodies and minds still need to process what we went through. It leaves you feeling kind of floaty and distant, but at the same time you’re too present. It can be pretty overwhelming. Especially if it’s your first time experiencing it.” Luka continued, he scooted closer to them, laying shoulder to shoulder with Damian as he stared up at the ceiling.

“And this helps?” Damian asked.

He could feel it helping some, it was grounding, calming,

But it wasn’t quite enough.

“Yeah, it works best for us at least. Physical contact and pressure help a lot for us.” Luka told him.

“We would normally be a lot closer than this, but we don’t want to make you uncomfortable. Not everyone likes physical contact.” Marinette said, rolling onto her side to look at him.

Damian hummed, pressing his lips together as he thought about it.

He was very picky when it came to physical contact. Everyone who knew him knew that.

He had already been in physical contact with Marinette several times, including now. It didn’t feel bad when he was touching her, it felt more like touching Jon or Dick than it did touching a stranger.

And Luka, well, Luka had been in almost constant physical contact with him since they first met. He didn’t feel bad either.

Honestly, Damian noticed more when Luka wasn’t touching him than when he was. It was strange.

“Yeah, Luka’s just like that. I just try not to think about it.” Marinette said.

Damian turned to look at her, concerned that he may have been speaking out loud.

“Oh, you didn’t say anything.” She reassured him. “I just recognized the look on your face. Everyone has that look when thinking about Luka.”

Damian decided not to dwell on that.

“I think, I’ll be fine with more contact.” Damian said hesitantly, not sure what exactly it would entail but not against finding out.

Luka was the first to move, propping himself up against some pillows before opening his arms up wide.

“Come here.” He said encouragingly.

Marinette nudged him, grabbing a blanket as she scooted them over to Luka.

She had him lay down first, directly on top of Luka before she laid down on top of Damian.

She covered them with a blanket before settling in, wrapping her arms around Damian’s middle as Luka encircled them both.

It was strange. Not bad, but strange.

He was surrounded by pressure on all sides and very warm.

He imagined that a heated, weighted blanket might have the same effect.

It was kind of nice he decided, letting himself relax against them.

It was strange, Damian thought. To blink and suddenly hear birds chirping outside.

When he had closed his eyes, the sun had just begun to set. Now it was shining brilliantly from Marinette’s skylight directly into his face.

Marinette groaned, pulling the blanket up to cover her face as the sun tried to blind her as well.

“What time is it?” Luka asked from behind Damian, his voice gruff with sleep.

Damian fumbled around in his pockets, trying to find his phone as he shielded his eyes with one hand.

“Its 8.” He responded, squinting at his screen.

“In the morning?” Came Marinette’s muffled question.

“Yeah.”

“It’s too early.” Marinette groaned loudly.

“Really?” Damian asked with a yawn. “I’m usually up by 5.”

“Around 7 for me.” Luka chimed in, his forehead resting against Damian’s shoulder.

“That sounds awful. Why do you do that to yourselves?” Marinette gripped from under her blanket fortress.

Damian sighed, rubbing his eyes and trying to sit up.

“Noooooo.” Marinette complained, refusing to get up.

Luka chuckled, releasing Damian and peering down at Marinette from over his shoulder.

“Let him get up, Mari.” He told her, reaching around to softly poke her.

Marinette reached out, grabbing his hand and not budging an inch past that.

“Just go back to sleep.” She tried to convince them.

Honestly, Damian was tempted by the offer. He couldn’t remember the last time he had slept that well and would not mind doing it again.

He needed to call his father though.

He was honestly surprised his family hadn’t blown up his phone with messages and calls last night,

“I need to call my father.” He told her.

Marinette huffed a sigh, lazily sitting up to glare at him sleepily before rolling off of him and curling up in a ball around a pillow.

“Morning people.” She huffed like a curse.

Damian climbed off of Luka carefully, taking a mental inventory as he did so.

He was sore, probably from staying in one position or too long. His arms were covered in red marks, and he felt sweaty.

Damian stretched, looking over at Luka as he did.

“Are you okay? I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.” He said, taking in the red marks covering his arms, the small part of his chest Damian could see, part of his neck, and one of his cheeks.

Basically everywhere Damian and Marinette were laying on him.

“i’m fine, my legs are tingling but that’s normal. Did you sleep well?” He asked.

Damian nodded, running a hand through his hair as he unlocked his phone.

His throat was sore too, he needed some water.

The trapdoor to Marinette’s room opened, an older woman walking through and smiling at Damian and Luka as they turned to look at her.

“Oh good, you’re awake.” She said, glancing at the blanket mound that was Marinette. “Most of you are awake.” She corrected.

“Breakfast is waiting for you downstairs, oh, and Damian.” She said, singling him out. “Your dad with be here to get you at noon.” She said, before turning and walking back down the stairs.

Damian stared after her, wondering how she knew his name when movement from behind him drew his attention.

Luka had leaned over and was gently shaking Marinette’s shoulder in an attempt to wake her up.

“Come on, breakfast is already downstairs.” He told her, trying to coax her from her cocoon.

“Leave me aloneeee.” She whined.

Noon came a lot sooner than Damian had thought it would and soon his family was waiting for him downstairs with John Constantine, ready to send them back to Gotham.

Marinette’s parents had been surprisingly nice that whole morning.

Apparently, Mrs. Cheng had seen the look on Damian’s face and figured they were going to nap upstairs.

When Damian’s family came looking for him, she had explained on his behalf and said he was more than welcome to spend the night.

Damian had been both grateful and mildly embarrassed by the situation but had ultimately decided not to dwell on it for too long.

“It was lovely meeting you, Damian.” Mrs. Cheng said, giving him a hug goodbye.

“Make sure you come back to Paris sometime.” Mr. Dupain said, patting Damian on the back.

“I’ll try.” Damian replied, stepping away to stand with Marinette and Luka as his father started talking with Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng.

“Well, you helped me with my problem here in Paris. Maybe I’ll come help you out in Gotham.” Marinette told him, nudging him in the side.

Damian smirked, glancing down at her.

“Maybe, Gotham is an entirely different breed of crazy though. You sure you’d be able to handle it?” He asked.

Luka laughed, leaning against a wall while he watched them.

Marinette glared at him in response.

“Don’t do that, it’s just as bad when Alix does it and I don’t want you to start.” She said.

Luka’s grin grew in response.

“i didn’t say anything-”

“But you know something-” Marinette cut him off.

“Damian! You ready to go?” Dick called out, standing in front of the portal Constantine had summoned.

Luka stood up, planting his hand on Damian’s shoulder with a wink and a cryptic “We’ll see you soon.” before he walked away.

Marinette quickly said her goodbyes, telling Damian she hoped to see him soon before chasing after Luka to scold him for being a cryptid and not tell her what he knew.

Damian shook his head, walking over to join his family at the portal.

“So.” Dick started, slinging his arm around Damian’s shoulder. “A two for one deal?”

Damian’s following protest was cut off as they stepped through the portal.

Out of curiosity, thoughts on Scriddler?

i thought, that one day, i’d might be asked this lol. 

i’ll be frank, the nature of popularity of that ship kinda confuses me to this day. not in irked sense, i just generally was surprised to see so much stuff for them. like, i don’t remember them interacting in anything, that i’ve watched / read. which tbh, doesn’t say much, since i’m very picky about what i engage with, when it comes to superhero media outlets. so maybe, it did happen somewhere an’ i just didn’t see it. i remember casually browsing a few of accs, who shipped it, curious, if they had some specific comic strip or cut scenes from the game, which depict those two together an’ that’s what lead them to idea of this ship. but i saw nothing of sorts. an’ it’s not a problem, naturally. but for me, an outsider, who ships a completely different thing, it was a bit puzzling. just how it came to be this broad, if there wasn’t any huge kickstarter. or well, not the one, that i’ve glimpsed. 

either way, i’ll begin with saying scriddler doesn’t personally work for me. nor does it have smth, that i seek in my otps. with this in mind, i have no intention to belittle anyone with what will follow below. it’s just my own whimsical outlook on it, based on many individual criteria, that might be vastly different for others, who see things in that ship, that i’m incapable of. similar to how i see things in my rare ships, that i know would make many folks quirk a brow as to why ‘that’s even a thing’. 

now, about jon an’ edward. a pair that might sound good on paper, depending on what you include in said paper, but for me it’s like putting a hardcore dnd fan into a pit with hardcore bookworm, an’ expect them to get along swell, just bc they’re both outcasts. ignoring how the first one is more show-offish an’ loudly proud of his abilities, an’ the other one is kinda shut-in with occasional god complex lol. one of them tends to throw ugly tantrums, the other one prone to meltdowns. both are sociopaths, who have little understanding of ‘how to human’, unless they need to pretend *for small periods of time*. 

in short, i cannot see them having enough patience to handle one another in almost 95% of their interactions. i can’t imagine antisocial, snappy jonathan to be able to tolerate edward’s endless need for praise an’ attention. more so, i struggle to picture jon even knowing how to react in those situations, or being willing to put aside a book, an’ listen to nygma’s newest scheme, if he’s not in the mood for it. or see edward going along with whatever crane has cooked up *some fear plan*, if he already has his own in drafting. it doesn’t help, that they’re also a slightly different ‘breed’ of villains too. 

indeed, they’re both operate more on intellectual level vs brute force *not without use of it tho*, but where riddler’s tick is the actual level of intelligence or level of knowledge, the scarecrow is a mindrape kind of villain. nygma likes building traps an’ labyrinths, giving quests an’ a chance to ‘win’, even if it’s all be a faux in the end. jonathan, on other hand, is mix between being sadistic an’ pragmatic. they both want / need a very different things *usually*, when they kick bruce or whoever else around. or in other words, they’re kinda useless to each other’s obsessions an’ it’s hard to imagine them functionally combining their efforts, without smth going wrong or one of them getting pissed off at the other. which was one of few reasons why jonathan got fed up with the joker, when they had their team-up *during the bane era*. crane doesn’t play well with others, an’ he also has a short temper, when someone keeps doing things, that he views as useless or silly. an’ nygma being prideful as he is, most likely won’t just swallow jon’s critic, esp bc he would have some of his own stored as well. neither of them is actually a team player. so here goes their supposed villain team up for me, like even from a technical aspect. they don't strike me as villains, who can have buddy-buddy relationships, even in part bc of their 'big personalities'.

an’ circling back to their obsessions, it’s pretty much a core of their persona. the root of their disease an’ addiction. an’ also a thing, that usually pushes them to engage with anyone in a meaningful way at all *at the very beginning, at least* an' it’s kinda clinical in that regard too. i don’t think that jon would be engaged with riddler’s fear in any intimate fashion, for one. i don’t think, that past abuse or trauma or hardship is enough for him to get obsessed with a person. in fact, i think that he usually simply gets pleasure from making someone feel awful as simple as it sounds. unless, they’re his bully or someone, who has wronged him, he seems to just forget about those, who he hurt along the way. it’s unflattering aspect of the antisocial brain, but that’s just how it is. nygma’s past won��t be able to be memorable for him, partly due to crane’s general lack of ability to relate to others, without it being very heavily connected to his own woes. an’ even then, he tends to misunderstand it. an’ in return, doubt that nygma would understand why jonathan was that affected by bullying, considering that in edward’s eyes, it’s an attention *no matter what kind* an’ attention is good. after all, he did say that people usually literally looked past him, not even jocks were interested in tormenting him, until he became smth ‘worthy’ of their aggression. so from his perspective, he might think that jon being dramatic about it, since crane was on opposite side of the issue, he always attracts attention to himself. a very bad, bad kind, but attention anyhow. meanwhile, nygma *in his own eyes* has to fight tooth an’ nail to get any. an’ it might start as one time fight, but it will be an always looming issue, that eventually would blow into their faces. there is no denial, that it played a huge part of what made them so dependent on their gimmicks in the first place. the way the world around them engaged with them or in nygma’s case, the way, it did not. so yeah,  it’ll be a big ole mess, an’ neither would be able to navigate such a situation. 

from what i saw, people tend to depict them as ‘two evil old men in relationships’, an’ it feels like they both more put together in those set ups, than they usually are. or like jon is very receptive toward edward’s attempt to befriend him, an’ nygma actually is pretty good at figuring out what scarecrow might like an’ what not. an’ the problem with it is that i don’t see edward being this thoughtful about anyone. ever. period. in most cases, his disorder just won’t let him be this considering, even if he would have wanted to. like, even if we take newest batman 2022 movie, in there riddler is very-very delusional about the bat, an’ it doesn’t even occur to him, that bruce might have different needs / goals vs what edward imagined him to lol. an’ jonathan is this, but even worse. he openly tends to dehumanise an’ objectify others, seeing them only as tools or props to get what he wants. i don’t think that such person would suddenly act differently around nygma, who on top of everything is also clingy an’ needy. for jonathan, who doesn’t have any experience with companionship at all, an’ who lived most of his life alone, that’s be overwhelming an’ confusing, an’ also annoying. whatever good qualities they have, an’ whatever we love them for, it’s given that both jon an’ nygma be hard to be around in long term, an’ would at times get hella unpleasant too. picturing them trying to mend things in 'normal' ways, or talking about it like normal people is smth that i personally cannot invision at all. or in other words, from my perspective, they’re too mentally ill for each other. in fiction, it's often be a positive thing. like, that two mavericks with huge problems can make it work together, but my personal experiences pretty much prevent me from seeing it this way. unless, one of the two is at least somewhere leveled or tries to be, there is just no way for such relationships to hold on for too long. in jon's an' riddler's case, we talking about an actual extremes on top of all, so it's be even harder for one of them to pull up the other, when they themselves unwell. one might argue, that there is potential for them to make each other worse, then. but they already *objectively* suck on their own as people. the corruption only works if there is smth too corrupt to begin with. some versions of the scarecrow an' riddler are already too far gone, for anything else to make them suck more lol. an' once again, they don't share gimmick, they don't share worldview or have the same goals, so it's hard to picture them infecting the other with their own desease, so to speak.

there is kinda more, that i can say on the topic, but it’s getting hella long already, so i’d skip a few things an’ will go straight to my next point. i suppose, that i already gave an outline of why i cannot see them working together personality wise, so next i’d get to their general aesthetics or visuals. the surface stuff, if you may.

i love their general designs *some more than the others, naturally*. but when i look at them side by side, i’ll be honest, i just see two bottoms lol. an’ while yeah, there is such a thing as switching, i kinda rarely vibe with it. an’ with jon an’ edward, it’s just that. they're purebred bottom cocksuckers in my eyes. them havin’ twink on twink sex isn't very sexy or hot to me. i feel like they both would want or at least have that not-so-secret fantasy about being domed into ground by a 'superior man'. bottoms fighting each other about who should top is more of a comedy set-up in my eyes, than anything else. esp bc they both will be like 'you should top' vs 'i wanna top' lmao. i also will add, that i hc both edward an' jon as kinda shallow in sense of who they find attractive. i picture them pawing after men, who are *technically speaking* out of their league. my personal joke about them is that they're both middle aged virgins with hilariously high standards, who won't beat it just to anyone or anything. they pick misery over everything else lol.

SPEAKING of omegaverse Tag I’ve been wanting to ask you what it is about a/b/o that you like so much and are especially drawn to?im very picky for my a/b/o and you somehow always get it exactly right so I’m curious what you look for in your omegaverse content?

Oof this is a complicated question for me actually lol Keep in mind I’ve literally been reading a/b/o since it’s origin in the Supernatural fandom on LIVEJOURNAL. I read the first a/b/o fic,I was in the fandom space and on the forums when it emerged,so I have quite literally followed along with it since it’s inception,and have kept tabs on its various evolutions through the years and through the different fandoms I’ve been in.

Originally it was much more about the animal characteristics and what I was seeing was very coded into werewolf verses or other creature societies very similar. What drew me in originally was a lot of those animal instincts of dominance and submission,especially with the alpha biting to enforce submission. As everyone on here knows I really really like biting,it’s kind of intrinsically tied in with my views of eroticism,so anything that heavily features biting kink will have my full attention. It’s why I love vampire content so much,or a lot of creature content.

I also have a really strong sense of smell,and in the more creature focused a/b/o fics,and then in Teen Wolf when a/b/o was interwoven with werewolves,scent played a big part in their characteristics. I really really like scent based stuff,in real life the way a partner smells is a large part of my attraction to them,it’s usually one of the first things I notice. For a lot of people,even if they don’t realize it,scent and pheromones play an important role in attraction. I love universes where this is played up,and scents become,not just a more blatant form of attraction,but also a vehicle for characterization and even communication. In a lot of next generation a/b/o the scent component has veered away from the wolf stuff in the OG omegaverse,but it’s something I hold onto and love. Like the force in Star Wars,it offers an opportunity to me as a writer to explore an alternative form of communication and recognition between characters.

At its core a/b/o is a really fun way for me to explore dom/sub dynamics too and in fact the dom/sub universes you see in fanfic now stemmed from omegaverse. There’s something about these sexual preferences being instinctual in these verses that made my own exploration for these wants and preferences somehow safer for me to accept when I was younger. And being able to read stories where a submissive male partner isn’t mocked for wanting these things while also being able to be a strong and independent person helped me realize a lot of things about myself that I always found confusing.

And on that note when done right I thing a/b/o is a wonderfully subversive and unique way to explore gender and gender roles. When I wrote conceal me what I am it was intrinsically interwoven with trans and nonbinary themes and was a very safe way for me parse through my own emotions of how I perceive myself and how the world perceives me. In all,exploring a submissive male character with certain cis female sexual characteristics has been a decade long process of coming to terms with my own gender-fluid ness,and being very comfortable with it,when I think without certain fictional avenues,I would have had a much harder time wrapping my head around it and how I perceive myself.

I think maybe what you see in my a/b/o writing,and what others have seen in it,is my dislike for feminizing male characters that I use as a vehicle for gender and sexual exploitation. This is no hate in any way to writers who do,there’s nothing wrong with it,but it’s something I always found personally distressing without being able to articulate why. More recently I’ve been able to identify that I find being feminized distressing,even though I identify as a woman some of the time.And so I find reading a male character being feminized as distressing because of my own life and raising. I like a/b/o as a means to look into the other,into the liminal inbetween and the hard to identify and parse outside of the rigid gender structures society has given us. So when I go into an a/b/o story with a wanting for that exploration and then it’s a projection of typical heteronormative gender ideals onto a not typical heteronormative dynamic,I find it upsetting. So in my own writing I avoid that at all cost. Again this is not a judgement of anyone who creates or engages with content that does embrace that,I don’t view it as a moral failing in any way,it’s simply something I don’t like and so something I specifically try to circumnavigate in my own art. Or when I do explore the intervening of male and female and other,it’s in a way I understand and perceive the world,and so is a comforting navigation of things I myself am unsure about or don’t quite understand.

It doesn’t have to be this deep. All a/b/o doesn’t have to be a societal deconstruction of gender and sexuality and queer coding. Sometimes it’s as simple as mmmm inherent attraction because of instincts sexy. It can also be mmmm character smells good BITE BITE BITE. It’s what you make it and what you find meaning and/or pleasure from. There’s thousands of interpretations of a/b/o because it’s a wonderful vehicle for exploration of many things. This is just my own relationship with it.

OFCCC I CAN TALK ABT THE POKÉMON AU i actually wrote it in my notes app so i’ll just type instead of giving screenshots since that’ll end up as a lot 😭

so basically the gist of it is the mc is barou’s younger cousin or sister or smth (rip barou male lead but the familial bond is the main theme of the story so he’s still important) and he disappears to go on a journey when he’s of age and he’s never heard from again!! originally mc doesn’t want to go on a journey but eventually she’s decides she has to in order to find barou ☝🏻 they don’t live close enough to a professor for her to get an actual starter so she takes the sibling of barou’s first pokemon, which is a houndour, so that’s her starter!! she goes through the region in search of barou, collecting badges and meeting the crew (who i will elaborate on in the next paragraph hehe) and catching pokémon/having various misadventures etc etc but eventually they realize an evil team (because is it a pokémon au if there’s no evil team) is after them after originally thinking mc is one of them because of her houndour as they believe the crew is a threat to the team’s goals 😨 it’s eventually revealed when mc breaks into the base that the leader is barou HOWEVER barou is very clearly acting strange and it turns out he actually died right before challenging the champion of the region and the evil team used a ghost pokémon to puppeteer his body so that they could use his team since he basically had the strongest team in the region and would’ve been champion if he didn’t die 😓 the evil team wants to get rid of pokémon training as a system because they believe it takes advantage of the unfortunate (such as nagi) which the mc does agree with but she can’t agree with their methods and especially possessing barou’s corpse 😭 so she and her houndoom kill barou for good which leads barou’s own houndoom to basically kill itself (the rest of his pokémon are inherited by mc and mostly like her because they realize how much she loved barou and how she never stopped looking for him) and this proves aiku’s theory that pokémon do form familial bonds as mc’s houndoom mourns for its brother (also ik i just mentioned nagi and aiku without context but i’ll explain who they are now + their teams and hopefully it’ll make more sense then!!)

so the main group that reader travels with is herself, tullia, otoya, and karasu!! otoya is the descendant of an exiled clan and he’s trying to regain their honor by being a legitimate trainer instead of all sneaky the way his family members were, karasu is the younger brother of the region’s flying-type gym leader (yayoi 🥹) and he ran away from home to prove himself as a trainer in his own right, and tullia is an aspiring pokémon breeder who’s basically training up her own pokémon so people want their offspring?? if that makes sense lol

mc’s team: houndoom [starter], gyarados, aegislash, donphan, galvantula, dragalge

barou’s team: houndoom [starter], pangoro, zoroark, krookodile, sharpedo, weavile

otoya’s team: greninja [starter], ampharos, blissey, sylveon, ninetales, altaria

tullia’s team: infernape, lilligant, vivillon, lanturn, granbull, hitmonchan (all pokémon mentioned to be somehow helpful to people, particularly attractive/used as companions, or, in hitmonchan’s case, having offspring with multiple evolutions [without being basic and just giving her an eevee])

karasu’s team: honchkrow [starter], pidgeot, staraptor, talonflame, garchomp, lucario (he mostly has flying type pokémon because yayoi kept giving him rejected gym pokémon to keep for himself; lucario and garchomp are the only ones he catches himself)

then we have a lot of recurring characters, some who appear more than others (ex nagi has a lot of appearances because he’s my goat whereas hiori and isagi don’t have as many)

yukimiya wants to be a battler like the rest but because of his frail health and eyes he’s forced to be a coordinator and model however he’s actually quite talented at battling so he helps mc in training and move efficiency and whatnot whenever he sees her

nagi had like 0 interest in going on a journey or doing anything difficult but a fire burns his house down and leaves him an orphan and the only way he can get any governmental assistance/literally SURVIVE is by becoming a trainer so that’s what he does

reo is the son of the current champion and he’s training to be a gym leader and eventually possibly replace his father as the champion

team: gallade [starter], mawile, persian, flygon, cinccino, florges

chigiri used to be a very famous rapidash racer but he has a very bad accident and injures his leg to the point that he can’t race anymore so he also has to become a trainer in order to earn money

team: off-the-track rapidash [starter], zebstrika, dragonite, gorebyss, liepard, pyroar

hiori literally just becomes a trainer so his parents leave him alone and he can have some peace and quiet; i’m thinking he appears in some kind of fossil-related side quest hence why he gets a fossil pokémon

team: kingdra [starter], metagross, nidoqueen, luxray, aurorus, swanna

isagi is completing the trials to become an elite four member so he kinda runs into mc and co every now and then?? he seems to have known barou in the past so mc tries to talk to him about it but isagi doesn’t know what happened to barou; or, if he does, he’s elusive about it and refuses to answer mc’s questions

team: charizard, lapras, stoutland, machamp, leafeon, raichu

aiku is in training to be a pokémon professor and is currently doing research for his thesis about whether pokémon are capable of forming familial bonds on the level that humans do or if it’s more instinctive pack-bonding for them

team: aiku doesn’t really have a team per se since he mostly does catch and release for research purposes but he does have an arbok that stays with him permanently and is his partner in crime and rizz

um…anyways…that was a lot as you can see…LMAOAOA idk who the endgame would be in terms of a love interest (probably nagi if we’re being real) because the main focus is honestly mc and barou’s sibling relationship ☝🏻 i also don’t know who tullia would end up if anyone i just wanted another female main-ish character so it’s not just mc with a bunch of boys 😭

Hey, apart from a IDW fan I'm an Archie fan. And I would like to ask what you think about Sally and the FF'S???

(note: I’m referring to post-reboot Freedom Fighters)

In general, I think the Freedom Fighters team was a good way to keep all the main characters together and relevant for any story. It’s a little cliché in my opinion, being that it’s the generic: “we’re a big team and we rescue people and fight evil!” but when compared to its predecessor(post-reboot archie), “a little cliché” is not a complaint on my part.

The characters themselves? I really like all their redesigns(Rotor and Antoine are my fav designs)

Sally Acorn was a good leader character. She always had a purpose in the plots bc she was the head of the team, the planner.

Rotor the Walrus? I’m glad they also made him ‘the muscles’ in the reboot, rather than just keeping him a mechanic(which is just Tails). Making Rotor the ‘builder and bruiser’ added more originality to him.

Bunnie Rabbot? Love the pun name. Kinda wish they leaned more into her “character from the country” aspect when she acted/reacted in situations, instead of just being a cyborg who also says “howdy!” (or maybe I’m just being picky idk)

Antoine D’Coolette? Major glow-up, but I really wish he hadn’t been mostly for comic relief. I wish they had utilized his uniqueness as a swordsman more. Like, making him the most agile on the team, second to Sonic of course. Sure, his comedic cowardice was kinda funny, but it often felt random and irrational more often than not. I just wish he had a little more “purpose” because I really liked his concept and it had more potential.
